Carey Dondero

Carey has lived in the Wood River Valley for over 50 years, eventually moving here from Seattle after having visited Sun Valley annually with her skiing family since she was two years old. She and her husband raised 3 children in the Valley. They all went off to college out of state only to return years later to settle back into Ketchum where they, in turn, are raising 5 wonderful grandkids- the oldest of whom is participating in the Mindfulness program in her school.

Carey and her husband founded an eyewear company in Ketchum 1998. That company is still thriving, located both in the Wood River Valley and Southern California. Carey remains deeply committed to the community and has served on several non-profit boards as well as volunteering substantial time to support various programs and causes.

Travel has played an important role in Carey’s life. She took a year off from college at the University of Washington to travel the world in 1969, visiting over 40 countries including Vietnam (during the war), Afghanistan, and Iran. That year-long trip transformed her then and she still travels extensively today. Carey recognizes the importance of travel and the invaluable perspective it gives young adults. She believes that the travel experience and the lifelong tools of mindfulness, which the Flourish Foundation provides its students at that most impressionable age, are priceless.

Carey is both excited and honored to serve on the Flourish Foundation Board.
